Frequently Asked

Venue fitouts, plain answers.

What's the typical order size?

Single venues (café, small restaurant, function room) typically land between AUD 15,000 and AUD 60,000 for furniture only. Add the bar joinery, signage, and back-of-house and a full fitout sits between AUD 60k and AUD 250k+.

Franchise rollouts (multiple sites, identical spec) often start at AUD 150k–500k per container and unlock factory bulk pricing not available on single-site orders.

Commercial-grade construction — what should I check?

Hospitality furniture takes more abuse than residential. On every quote ask the factory to confirm:

• Chair frame: solid timber or steel-reinforced (not particleboard)
• Banquette foam density: minimum 35 kg/m³ (residential is usually 20–25)
• Vinyl / leather: contract-grade (50,000+ Martindale rub count)
• Table tops: laminate-on-MDF for high-volume, solid stone or timber for premium
• Stackability: confirm if chairs need to stack for cleaning

Sun Top includes these specs in the RFQ by default for hospitality categories.

What's the lead time?

Standard hospitality furniture (in-catalogue): 6–10 weeks ex-factory + 4 weeks ocean + 1–2 weeks AU customs / last mile = roughly 11–16 weeks door-to-door.

Custom upholstery / timber finishes / branded touches: add 2–4 weeks at the front.

Full-venue packages: match-pace at the slowest factory, typically 12–16 weeks.

If you have a hard opening date, order with 6–8 weeks of buffer beyond the indicative window. See How It Works → Honest delivery timelines for the full disclosure.

Can you match an existing AU venue's look?

Yes — bring us reference photos, fabric swatches, finish samples, and ideally the catalogue page from an AU retailer. Most "designer hospitality" furniture sold at AU retail is sourced from the same Foshan / Dongguan clusters Sun Top buys from. We can usually identify or specify a close match at 30–50% of AU retail.

We don't reproduce trademarked or design-protected pieces (e.g. iconic licensed European designs). For everything else — generic banquette profiles, café chair shapes, bar stool silhouettes — direct sourcing is fair game.

Delivery to a venue under fitout — how does that work?

If the site isn't ready when the container lands, options are:

Storage — we hold goods at the AU port-side warehouse for an extra week or two ($150–400/week depending on volume).
Delivery to another address — change the destination up to 48 hours before delivery without penalty.
Split delivery — half to site for what's being installed first, half to storage. Actual carrier fee, no markup.

Compliance — AS/NZS fire ratings for upholstery?

AU commercial venues have building-code requirements for upholstered furniture in public spaces (cigarette + match resistance tests). Sun Top can supply compliant upholstery on request — flag it on the RFQ. Adds approximately 5–10% to upholstery cost and 1–2 weeks to lead time for the test certification.

Whether it's mandatory depends on venue type, occupancy, and state. Your builder / certifier knows the local requirements.
